CO2 canisters: everything you need to know
By Tipzey HQ
Every Tipzey mini keg ships with a CO2 canister in the box, and it's the little cylinder doing the heavy lifting: it keeps your drinks carbonated and gives the tap its pressure. Here's the quick version of how it all works.
What it does
Screw the canister into the regulator and it feeds food-grade CO2 into the keg. For beer, cider and seltzer that means the fizz stays put from the first glass to the last — no flat final pour. For cocktails and cold brew, it simply pushes the drink out of the tap.
How long does one last?
It depends how fizzy you like things and how often you're pouring, but a single 16g cartridge comfortably sees out a full 2L keg. Most people keep a spare pack on hand so a refill never slows the party down.
Where to get more
We sell 6, 12 and 24 packs right here, and because the canisters use the standard threaded fitting, they also work with other mini keg systems. In a pinch you can even pick up threaded 16g cartridges at your local bike shop — they're the same ones used for tyre inflators.
Cold drinks all summer. On tap.
