How to set up a mini keg in 5 minutes
By Tipzey HQ
Setting up a mini keg is far easier than setting up a kegerator. No regulator, no beer lines, no power. Here's the full setup for the Tipzey Mini Keg.
1. Chill everything first
Chill your drinks in the fridge before filling. The keg keeps pre-chilled drinks cold for up to 12 hours — it doesn't cool warm drinks down, so start cold.
2. Fill it
Pour your drink into the clean keg, up to 2 litres. Pour carbonated drinks slowly down the side to keep the fizz in.
3. Add the CO2
Close the lid and screw in a 16g threaded CO2 cartridge (one is included). Spare threaded cartridges are easy to find at your local bike shop. Start with gentle pressure — too much is the main cause of foamy pours.
4. Pour
Tilt your glass to 45 degrees, open the tap fully in one motion and straighten the glass as it fills. Half-opening the tap causes foam.
Common setup mistakes
Filling with warm drinks, adding too much gas at once, and half-opening the tap. Fix those three and you'll pour like a pro from the first glass.
When you're done, rinse the keg and tap straight away — see our guide on how to clean a mini keg.
Cold drinks all summer. On tap.
